I found a trash can, removed the bag, tossed the Bible into the can, and burned it. I then went outside and committed a crime. I put Faith of the Fallen in its place, already having decided to keep it and pay the $15 library fine. I vividly remember reading the final few pages, closing the book, setting it aside, and remaining perched in the window for nearly an hour, contemplating the story I had been intensely absorbed in for several months.įinally, I went to my locker and took my Bible off of the top shelf. One Sunday in early spring, I was sitting in an open third-floor window, sunning myself like a cat and reading Goodkind’s Faith of the Fallen, which remains my favorite book to this day. By the time I finished reading it, I knew that Wizard’s First Rule was anything but generic fantasy-but I couldn’t yet put my finger on what was different about it. It was in the fantasy section, and I hadn’t yet read it that was good enough for me. When I went to the base library and picked up Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind, I had never heard of the author, and I had no particular reason for selecting that particular book. I genuinely believed that God was the only path to happiness-yet I felt miserable almost every day, and my misery could be explained only partly by my extremely negative experience in the U.S. I was six weeks into a long and grueling Army medic training program, intermittently single and engaged (it was complicated), and a devout Christian. The biggest thing i have noticed is the difference of how magic works for them, it is interesting, and the fact that they don t actually have elves! i don t know many sword/sorcery books without elves, so i think this adds a nifty twist.In January 2006, I was (barely) nineteen years old. does a much better job, does not have cussing in his books or explicit sex scenes so it gets a number one in my book, something i can share with the kids someday. of course i do like historical romance novels, and how drab can you get, they all go the same way. and as far as the "cant have girl, get girl, lose girl, get girl" theme it works rather well as each time it is solved a different way, usually with magic or sheer strength, but still. in fact my daughter, er.second daughter is named after the main character g-ma, so i must have loved it! nathan can't seem tot alk himsle finto reading it but he supports my habit of it so i'm fine. i have read all including debt of bones, which i think was done very well. I guess it is like Drizzit, enough is enough of the good stuff. Storywise, it do get a bit better with the later books, and many people I know like it alot. So is the bookserie good? I let you be the judge of that. Problem solved half way, haven't yet found the inspiration to take it up again. But it got old after two books, two more books and I threw it in the wall in shear desperation of being stuck, so I took up Dreamcycle by Lovecraft instead. I got fed up with unhappy love stories and pseudo misery by doing the gross lets all be really nasty raping evil enemies so the heroe can kill us more violnetly in the end crap. I want the girl-I get the girl-I loose the girl-I get the girl-again-loose GAAARGH! What I don't like is more of the same all the bleeding time. Sitting in front of a puter doing shiitty work, I am not up for Tolstoy or mindbuggling books every night so a bit predictability is oki that way.
And so it is far more interesting when you find something that goes against the norm, But, I find the books to be good weekdays reading.

Well I think that the series got a bit better after book 1, and well it is cliché but then again, I find many books to be that.

Well I do share alot of feelings about Terry G with Grojlach I have to admit, not so violnetly I would go through the trouble of trying to find the code for the puking smiley though.
